Frequently Asked Questions

Which forms of payment do you accept?

Cash, Credit/Debit card, Paypal, Square, Square invoice.

Do you share our photos with anyone?

Not without permission from you.

Do you work with a professional hair/makeup artist?

I am a licensed cosmetologist and makeup artist, and provide hair & makeup on occasion and on request. I do also have packages which include hair & makeup services.

Do you deliver every image you shoot?

No. Duplicates, test shots, missed focus, bad expressions, poses, cropping, lighting, etc., are all deleted permanently before sharing your gallery.

Do you provide videography?

No. However, I can provide recommendations of professionals I love on request.

Do you do destination weddings?

Absolutely. I would love to travel wherever your event will be held.

What is your photography style?

I have a lifestyle/candid approach to photography. I do posed photos, however, prefer them to be natural and free, rather than overly-staged and constricting.

May I see a full event from start to finish?

Absolutely, in fact, I strongly suggest that you request to see one or two events from any event photographer you are considering.

Do you professionally retouch all the images on our flash drive?

All images have basic edits, and if your package includes full edits, those images will be very minutely perfected.

What is the difference between basic and custom retouching?

Basic retouching includes cropping, saturation and contrast adjustments, white balance, exposure, sharpening and resizing. Custom retouching can include anything, going as far as braces removal, acne and blemish removal, skin softening, removing unwanted objects, very small weight adjustments, teeth whitening, etc. Just ask if there is a specific concern you have.

How many hours are suggested for wedding photos?

Family formals are recommended at 5 minutes PER GROUPING and a minimum of one hour for any family formals. Couples photos, and/or first look photos will require 30 minutes each or a total of one hour for both. Depending on the size of your bridal party, those photos can take from 30 minutes to one hour.

How does my wedding day time allotment work?

Basil + Violet operates under a “continuous coverage” policy. This policy means that any travel to or from venues, break times, or any pause in coverage for any reason is still considered coverage and counts toward the total allotment of your coverage time.

What happens if we go over our contracted time?

If your session or event goes over your contracted time, you will be charged at my current hourly rate. This rate will be covered in meetings and your contract, and changes yearly.

Why is there a charge for additional coverage?

There is a charge for additional coverage because each additional photo I take requires additional time in post-event work, after I leave your event.

When will we see our images?

I strive to ensure you have your images within 3-6 weeks following your event.

When will we receive our prints?

Following payment and placement of your order, you can expect to receive any prints within 2-3 weeks.

How long does my album take?

Each album is different, however, I strive to complete your album for delivery within 6-8 weeks of our final approval of album design.
